Houses

The second residential project for this client was undertaken early in Miriam Dominguez Guerra's career and was the first house she worked on. Brought into the project for her interior architectural style and quality of finish, it was a fantastic opportunity to work with award-winning Priestman Architects on a major rebuild. Retaining nothing but the exterior walls, this large detached home close to Notting Hill was demolished and entirely rebuilt. Miriam's input involved the design of impressive large feature fireplaces throughout. Some constructed from stone, others from versatile cement and sand as on the South Kensington project, all appear to be constructed from a single slab. From dark slate in the dining room to muted colours in bedrooms and living rooms, they unify the space and echo the character of the original building. An L-shaped, open plan, state-of-the-art kitchen was made by Boffi in Italy to Miriam's specification. Upstairs, an understated custom-made dressing room with glass space divider was built to overlook a sunken limestone bathtub.
